The world of transportation has come a long way, at this point machine and man has evolved into a phase that brings the question to heart "Will man and Machine Marge?" It is a a matter of time judging by mans reliability on machines and how useful man has find machines to be, a further break through in technological research could see these two come together in a union.
Land Transportation via Vehicles has not changed much over the years. Since the first internal combustion engine powered Vehicle mounted the roads, it has been more of the same concept for travel till date. The fact remains that a lot has changed about the vehicles but nothing really changed about the way we drive or travel. We are chained to this same concept as has been in years past, we only succeeded in replicating the same old ideology. Modernization has redefined everything, cars are continually been fitted with new and improved technologies that aids driving, comfort and safety is now on the front of it all yet, the idea that was born with road transportation still lives.
Consider that over the years, it has been this same four wheeled metal over a tired area over a distance. Other than this, the only change has been the engine body work.
I try to envision driving in a different way and have come to the understanding that our engineering mind is tied to existing infrastructure such as road. Today, many manufacturing companies are putting resources together in a bid to create a car of the future as they call it. yet, many refuse to understand that the road remain the chief determinant of what the future car will evolve into.
If we change today's road everything about tomorrows car changes alongside. imagine a road made out of copper or one designed to generate and stored charges, imagine building roads with sensors embedded in them such that they display signs and can react to happenings withing the environment. A road that can interact with the car thereby improving safety, comfort and surviveability. That i tell you, are the kinds of roads that will change the way we travel. Hence, future cars will be born.
